Changbin (Stray Kids) profile

BIOGRAPHY

Changbin was born on August 11, 1999 in Yongin, South Korea and grew up in Uiwang and Seoul. He attended Galmoe Primary School and graduated from Bora High School on February 6, 2018.

When Changbin told his parents that he wanted to go to a casting at the JYPE agency to become a musician, they weren't very keen on the idea at first. They wanted their son to start studying. When he was accepted as a trainee, his parents were still excited and seemed happy that their son would become a musician. He trained with JYPE for two years.

At the end of 2016, Changbin founded the hip-hop unit 3RACHA with the other two trainees Han Jisung (“J.One”) and Bang Chan (CB97). He himself used the stage name “SPEARB”. Within this unit, the guys were able to show a completely different side of themselves. Over the course of 2017, they released self-written and self-produced songs together on Soundcloud. Later, they even worked with big names like SKI-HI and were the feature of his song JUST BREATHE (2022)

On October 11, 2017, JYPE announced the survival show “Stray Kids”. Something unprecedented happened: In the show, Changbin was introduced as the producer and rapper of the “Male Group Project”. The “Male Project Team” was special from the start because, unlike most other K-pop groups, it was not formed by the agency. Instead, Bang Chan himself had put together the team of nine members in total. The members were: Bang Chan, Lee Know, Han, Changbin, Felix, Hyunjin, Seungmin, I.N and Woojin.

In the last episode of the Survival Show on December 19, 2017, it was announced that this very group that Bang Chan put together would also be making their debut. However, in October 2019, Woojin left the group for unknown reasons.

SONGWRITING CREDITS

In November 2023, Changbin (I.D 10016935) was officially registered with KOMCA (The Korea Music Copyright Association) at number 6 with 152 songs registered to his name.

This is because he writes and produces almost all of Stray Kids' songs himself, together with Han and Bang Chan, under the name of the unit 3RACHA. This makes Stray Kids one of the few K-pop groups that produce their own songs.
